We’re so excited to share Will and Joyce’s snowy Lake Tahoe wedding at West Shore Cafe! They never planned to have a winter wedding, in fact they imagined getting married on clear spring day overlooking the Tahoe Mountains and crystal blue water. But mother nature had other plans. All week we kept an eye on the weather and let them know that rain, snow, or shine- we’d make sure their wedding was amazing. So when the snow kept falling on wedding morning, they had to make a choice: move the wedding indoors, or go forward with their plans. And while many people would opt to move the ceremony inside, Will and Joyce were different. They had family that traveled all the way from China to see them get married on a pier, and a snowstorm wasn’t going to stop them. We were SO HAPPY they asked guests to brave the storm and head out into the snow for the ceremony, it was truly the most memorable wedding ever!! Here’s a peek at their amazing day.
The amazing staff at West Shore Cafe worked tirelessly to clear the snow before the ceremony. so it started off looking like drizzle.
And at some point in the ceremony, the snow really started coming down!
My favorite thing is seeing the snow onto of her lashes…
Nothing like a warm cocktail after the snowy ceremony!
We’re SO thankful that Gianna from Wild and Lovely events talked them into heading back out into the snow for more photos.

And THIS moment made us both so happy! The brides dad (who didn’t speak English), pulled us outdoors to get a photo with his car.
Of course Andy will say the best part of the whole weekend was that his new Jeep got initiated!! It was a VERY slow ride home through the Tahoe mountains in sometimes near white out conditions, but thanks to his trusty Jeep we made it home (and didn’t even need chains).
Curious to know how we photograph in bad weather? We hear from photographers all the time who are terrified of shooting in rain, snow, or even direct sun for that matter. Stay tuned for a blog post on shooting in any and all conditions. Andy has a saying “there’s no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothes and poor preparation.” We’ll cover all this and more next week.
