Our story, what you should know about us, and how we know for sure that opposites attract.
We were a perfect match from the beginning (at least that’s what our dating profiles said). Lucky for Melanie, she was only on the dating site for 5 minutes before we started talking and decided to meet for cocktails that same evening....
Imagine a Mid-West, meat-and-potatoes, corporate guy meeting up with a So-Cal, yoga-loving, vegetarian girl for the first time. We learned instantly there’s a lot of truth to the saying “opposites attract.”
Even though we couldn’t be more different, we realized quickly that when it came down to the stuff that mattered most to us – family, values, commitment, loyalty – we were in complete agreement. And so, all at once, we were all in.
All in. That’s a pretty accurate way to describe how we approach our life and business together. We like to keep our photography style real, raw, and romantic. We work incredibly hard to make sure your story gets told. We want it to be a story for future generations – your children, grandchildren, and even their children. We show up as friends, ready to be knit into the day and get to know the people you love. We always deliver exactly what we would hope to receive and we both have high expectations (so you can imagine it’s a pretty good standard of excellence).
We go into a wedding knowing that at some point Andrew might be bustling your dress or tying bow ties and Melanie will be working to make sure everyone feels comfortable and at ease in front of the camera. (It’s okay to have those nerves on such a big day, but you have to keep them!) We like being in the little details of the day and getting to know the people you love. We hope it never changes.
Your wedding day is about promises, so we’ve made a few we know we can keep:
I'm Melanie! I was raised So Cal, but found home in a small town...
Andrew here (but call me Andy unless I’m in trouble, or you’re my mother)...

I love being behind the camera but I dig the business side of things just as much! I was raised on a deer farm in Michigan and there’s still a lot of of that midwest blood in me-- I love the summer, any chance to be outdoors, and long days that drag out perfectly into nights gathered with friends. I can confidently say I grill the best steak from here to Michigan (ask Melanie why she isn’t a vegetarian anymore) and you’re welcome at my table any time to try it for yourself. I’m a type A personality who sees things as pretty black and white. Ironically, I love to photograph in black and white. I have a slight obsession with glasses, shoes and good leather bags. My theory: buy once, buy right.
If you met me several years ago, you would have known me as the corporate guy holding a job in sales and marketing. I did love it and thought I would retire in corporate America but then I found photography and something changed inside of me. I’m passionate about teaching people the ins and outs of photography so they can become better at what they love. I come from a lineage that puts a huge emphasis on strong marriages and that really transfers over into my photography. Family (and our Springer Spaniel puppies-- Cooper and Sophie) are everything to me and that will never change.
....and then settled in a tiny town nestled in the Sierra Foothills. I’m torn between loving the slower pace of life here (no traffic!) but missing the culture - and sushi - of the big city. However, I can make anywhere in the world my home as long as I am surrounded by people to love. Whether it’s spending the day canoeing on the lake or exploring a new country, I want adventure on the regular. Yet I’m just as happy to stay home and snuggle up with our puppies, a good movie, and bottle of wine. I’m slightly addicted to gummy vitamins, strong coffee, yoga dresses, and feeling the grass on my bare feet. Oh, and anything from Costco (it's always good).
I think the best way to find yourself is to get lost in helping others. Looking back on my life, some of the most impactful moments came about through giving back. After starting out on a completely different career path, I decided to go back to school to study fine art film. I could have never imagined it would lead me into a life of capturing people’s biggest moments and most beautiful relationships. I’m incredibly passionate about community-building and helping people develop unshakable confidence through photography. I’ve seen how it can change the way a woman sees herself, preserve the memory of a person after they’ve passed, and make us see the world in a different, more beautiful way.

We know love has layers and we believe growing older alongside someone-- someone who sees your Instagram feed life plus all the days you want to hide from the world-- is one of the most worthwhile adventures of this lifetime. We think life is happening more and more on a screen, so we place a high value on photography that is tangible. We believe in preserving legacies because we both know how much it matters to hold onto a photograph when you can no longer hold onto a person.
We always pick “quality” over “quantity.” We opt for experiences over things, but don’t make us choose between an adventure abroad or a night as a family at home with our pups. We know life can be challenging, but we also believe the fight for the good stuff is incredibly worth it.
for more joyful moments, beautiful memories, and our life together behind the lens.
