Anyone who knows us, knows that Andy and I are COMPLETE opposites. Paula Abdul was onto something back in 1988 with that song “opposites attract”, and sometimes I swear it was written just for us. In our early years our differences were a huge challenge for us (vegetarian meets hunter, not quite a fluid combination). Yet as we’ve grown and evolved together, we’ve learned to appreciate our opposite beliefs and views of the world. Not only are we opposites in life, but we also capture and see the world very differently. I was vividly reminded of this when I downloaded the film card from Marissa and Dakota’s Grass Valley engagement session. I was so happy to see the same moment captured by both of us in such drastically different ways, can you guess which one of us shot each image?
Now, many years and many silly arguments later, our differences have become our greatest asset to our couples as we capture the most important day of their lives. By combining our different styles and views of the world, we’re able to create something bigger than we ever could have alone. And really, isn’t that one of the greatest powers of marriage and partnership? Here’s a few more photographs from their engagement session. I can’t wait to share their beautiful wedding at the Sacramento LDS temple, and Haggin Oaks Pavilion, stay tuned!
