Andy and I had such a great time with our couple at this Empire Mine Engagement Session.
The location, Empire Mine:
This place is just amazing. Every year we shoot several weddings here, and when the gardens are in bloom, there’s just nothing else like it in Grass Valley. What’s so special about this place is the amount of texture, color, and quality of light. We had a relaxed morning with our (awesome) couple who were such troopers. We had them walking all over the park, trekking through weeds outside the mine, and more. It was a blast.
What to wear to an engagement session:
I often have my couples as me what they should wear for an engagement session, and this is a great example of what works. When planning what to wear, you don’t want to “match exactly” (just think of those horrible photos from 1980’s where couples wore matching jeans and white t-shirts); but you do want to coordinate. You should choose complimentary colors and patterns. If one person has a pattern (ex: below plaid), then the other person should have on a solid. Breana’s dress is perfect because her belt hits right at her waist which is the smallest part of her body. if she tried to wear the dress without a belt, it would have made her look artificially large, because the camera would not be able to see where her waist was. Hope that helps!
